We called the plant name TRP (Triuret Removal Plant).
The TRP's AdBlue(DEF) does 99% NOx removal from the SCR because it does not have a Triuret and improves the fuel economy and power of the vehicle.
Most urea have a Triuret created during the process of making it.

Triuret interferes with the conversion of AdBlue (DEF) to NH3 by the heat of the exhaust gas and degrades NOx removal capability.

AdBlue, What is the problem?
  1. The original AdBlue is converted to 2 mol of NH3 per 1 mol of AdBlue. And it removes 2 NOx. NH3 and NOx react at a ratio of 1: 1

  2. AdBlue which contains an impurity named 'Triuret', converts only 1 mol of NH3 per 1 mol of AdBlue. Only 1 NOx is removed.

  3. Triuret prevents the conversion of AdBlue to NH3. Therefore, the AdBlue lacks NH3 and can not remove NOx.

  4. The AdBlue standard currently applied is the standard set by ISO22241 10 years ago. Over the past decade, air quality regulations have been upgrading SCR performance from Euro 4 to Euro 5 and now to Euro 6. This is an upgrade of the SCR performance with increased air quality regulations that require more NOx removal.
    SCR is becoming more and more sensitive. But AdBlue's quality standard is based on 10 years ago.
    New AdBlue standards are needed. In AdBlue, the Biuret must be less than 0.16%
    Also, the Triuret must be included in the test items so that the SCR can function normally.

What is Triuret?
  1. Urea is made by extracting NH3 from coal or gas and reacting with CO2. The impurities produced in the process are Triuret and Biuret.

  2. Triuret is white fine particles that coalesce with each other, so they appear turbid in AdBlue at low temperature and may be colored milk in severe case. 

  3. ​Triuret interferes with the conversion of AdBlue into NH3 in the SCR and creates a salt that piles up inside the SCR, causing SCR failure.
